Giftables: Jewelry $25

In our final Giftables class of 2017 you get to make jewelry!  This class will provide you with some jewelry making basics and two pieces of jewelry.  No one says you have to give them away either!  We won't tell.  :)  This is a great opportunity to have a couple small gifts on hand for those last minute needs.  You will get to make two pieces, whether it is two earrings or an earring and a pendant or two pendants, etc.  You get the idea.  Make them different or make them matching.  It's all up to you.  And if you do gift them, you get the supreme satisfaction of saying youmade it yourself!

Giftables: Notecards and Box set $20

A Giftable class is a class where you can make something small that is suitable for a gift for nearly anyone.  Perfect for a co-worker, mail person, stylist or even an extra guestor hostess.  Our November Giftables class will be a nice box set of 5 note cards.  These cards can be left blank or you can put a saying in it.  There will be several options available to choose from.  Not only will you make 5 lovely cards but you will make the box to put them in so your gift is completely ready to go!  All materials ore provided.

Giftables: Sticky note and desk calendar set $15

Do you ever need just a little something for someone?   Nothing extravagant or big, just a little something.  These Giftables classes will focus on small items that you can make and give as gifts separately or put together in a basket or box and make it a bigger gift.  The September class will be making a matching Post It note holder and small desk calendar.  These will be appropriate for co-workers, host/hostess gifts, postal carrier, teacher/parent gift-well, really anyone!  Great for the holidays.  Each class will have a bit of a different focus or theme so you will not be making the same thing each class.  All materials will be provided.  You just need to come and bring a friend!  Watch this space to get more information about the theme and cost as the day gets closer.

Alcohol Ink $55

You'll love experimenting with the vibrant colors of alcohol inks!  It's like no other medium you've used.  This is a perfect class for those who say "I'm not an artist" as the inks do their own work to create beautiful designs.  You will be using the inks on a marble tile.  This class is not suitable for children under 10 years old.  To see a sample of tiles created by the teacher some out in the store. Taught by Jill Vitale-Aussem.  From a participant: "I LOVE this class!  This was the first class I have ever taken where my first attempt looked like what the teacher did.  I was blown away by how easy it was and so excited that I made tiles that looked beautiful.  I felt very successful!"

Trash to Treasure-the Art of Mixed Media to Altered Objects $55

In this interactive class, you'll will be introduced to mixed media (Mixed Media is an art form using a variety of art materials and techniques including paint, paper, glass, metal, stencils, modeling paste, etc.) and learn how to apply these materials and techniques to alter objects.   Many of these materials can be found in your home or bought at little cost.  You'll learn how to properly prepare your surface, layer your object with paper, magazine pages, and even napkins.  Use stencils and stamps to make your project uniquely yours.  Finally, add embellishments for that finished look.  Turn trash into a treasured art object uniquely your own!   We’ll get messy, bring a cover up or wear clothes you don't mind spilling on.  Bring One Object to Alter - Examples include picture frame, box, teapot, styrofoam head/bust, lamp, vase, wine bottle, clip board , boxes, hardcover book, glass plate , tin cans, glass bottles, jars,cigar box, etc.  Keep objects relatively small so the project can be completed during class.  Instructor will provide all other materials.

CLASS INFORMATION

All of our classes are small so you will get individualized attention.  With a maximum of 4-5 students per class you will be sure to have a pleasant experience.  All classes require pre-registration.  There is no walk in registration the day of class.

You are not fully registered, with a confirmed space, until you have paid the class fee.  Class fees are not refundable and typically not transferable.  When you register for a class the teacher purchases materials for you so they will have to be paid for materials whether you show up or not.

Pysanky-Ukrainian Easter Eggs $25

Learn the ancient art of Ukrainian Easter Eggs.  This art form goes back over thousands of years when the white of an egg was the canvas for designs drawn in wax and later colored with natural dyes.  In the modern world alkaline dyes are used since it's permanent and is easier to access.  You will learn the meanings behind the symbols and various colors that are traditional to this art form.  You will be recreating designs that reflect the natural world.  All supplies, including eggs, will be provided.  There will be a handout to take home.  Teacher: Helen Lozynsky.

Color the Stress Away!

There are numerous studies out there now that confirm coloring as a stress relieving activity.  It is sometimes hard to carve out the time to do it when you are at home because so many other things need your time and attention.  Come to Caboodle and color to your hearts content.  We will provide all the coloring implements and a mandala design from our wonderful coloring book, Mandala Dreaming, the coloring book.  If you decide to purchase the coloring book the day of class you will receive 10% off the price.  You can also bring your own pictures to color and take $2 off the price of the class.  This will be a chance to put yourself first and get some "me time"  We hope to make this a monthly class!  There really isn't a teacher for this "class".

Enjoy creating your own fused glass creations!
In this 2 hour class you can make:
3 fused glass pendants or other glass gifts such as wine stoppers, key chains or bookmarks.

You'll learn about using; glass powders, frits, stringers, confetti and noodles.

A fun, creative introduction to the beauty of fused glass!  You do not need any previous experience with glass fusing to make these amazing pieces. This class is great for men and women of all ages!  Grab a friend and have a great time together while you make your holiday gifts.  The recipients will be amazed that you made it yourself!  Items will be taken by the instructor to be put in a kiln and returned to Caboodle about a week later.

Dry Felted Pumpkins

What is needle felting?  Needle felting is a way to make three dimensional felt objects out of sheep's wool.  You can create just about anything you can imagine with roving and a needle.  Roving is sheep's wool that has been washed, carded and sometimes dyed.  The special felting needle has barbs that interlock the strands of wool as you poke it through the roving, to make a soft but firm felt creation.  This is a fun and easy craft for anyone who can use a needle.  You will get hooked on this fun craft!  You can use the pumpkin created for your Fall decorating for years to come!.

Clay Patina class $50

Learn to finish your metal elements using traditional methods like liver of silver and non traditional methods of patinas like lacquers and polished effects. Using basic metal files, steel wool, polishing papers, drills and wire, metal clay elements transform into finished pieces. At the end of class you will walk out with jewelry design with depth and originality, color texture and form. The focus of this class is applying patinas rather than completing all your pieces into wearable jewelry. Materials will be provided to complete pieces but you will most likely take some pieces home to finish making into jewelry.

Metal clays are clays imbued with metal that can be sculpted, stamped or molded and then the clay is burned off and you are left with a beautiful metal piece. Use easy to use pattern sheets, stamps, molds and cutters to make individualized metal components for pendants, earrings and mixed media creations. Learn basic techniques for finishes before and after firing. Firing of your pieces is included in the class. Pieces can be picked up the following weekend or your can take the patina class to learn more finishing techniques. Clay (100 grams) and tools are provided with the class. You will need to pay $27 cash per package for the clay to the instructor on the day of the class. There will also be optional tool kits to purchase ($25) from the instructor if you wish to continue playing at home. :). While everyone makes different sized pieces, one package of the clay will make about 10 "average" sized pieces to use for a necklace, earrings or bracelet. The registration deadline for this class is one week before the class. This is so materials can be ordered. If you cancel after this date you will still need to pay the instructor for the materials she purchases. There is a minimum of three students for this class.

It is recommended that you take the patina class also to learn more finishing techniques but it is not required.

Bridge Basics $60

Come learn the basics of the card game Bridge!  This fun and engaging game is played with sets of partners but you don't have to have a partner to learn or to play.  In this class you will be learning how to count your points, bid and some basic rules.  We will even play a few hands!  By the end of classes you will be a Bridge player!!        

The class fee includes five 1 1/2 hour sessions on Saturday Feb 7, Feb 21, March 7, March 21, and April 4 from 5-6:30pm.
